What causes the Treo Pro No Ringer issue?

The root cause of the Treo Pro No Ringer issue is related to a rare corruption of the Treo Pro?s registry key. This can lead to the smart phone not ringing and causing the user to miss an incoming call.

How does this software update work?

This update corrects the registry if it finds it is corrupted and helps prevent further registry corruption.

Which devices need the update?

This update is recommended for Sprint Treo Pro EVDO devices. If you are not sure if you have a Sprint Treo Pro Smart Phone:

  1. Press Start , Select Settings.
  2. Select the System tab. Open About. Go to the Phone tab.
  3. Look at the Software Version. What do you see?



    If you see a Software Version that is T850EWW-1.04-SPT you should install this update. Note: Devices with software versions other than those listed above do not need this update.

If you install the Voice Dialing over Bluetooth Download and perform a soft reset, no action is necessary. The Voice Dialing over Bluetooth Download remains installed after a Soft Reset.

Installation instructions

Via Desktop Download

Assure that your device has at least a 50% charge.

Open the file "SPNT_TreoProRingerUpdate.CAB " by clicking the link below, and SAVE it to the desktop.

Connect your Treo Pro to the ActiveSync cable, and allow it to complete an ActiveSync operation.

Open My Computer, and then open Mobile Device.

Open the My Windows Mobile-Based Device icon.

Open the Program Files folder.
Drag the SPNT_TreoProRingerUpdate.CAB (Note: this will appear as a .zip file on the Windows desktop) to this folder. This process will copy the SPNT_TreoProRingerUpdate.CAB file to your device.

Disconnect your Treo Pro from the ActiveSync cable.

On your Treo Pro, press Start , select Programs.

Select File Explorer.

Tap the file location drop down in the upper left, and select My Device.

Open the Program Files folder, and select the SPNT_TreoProRingerUpdate.CAB file.

Select OK when prompted about the file conversion process.

Choose a location to install the SPNT_TreoProRingerUpdate. .

Monitor the installation progress.

After the update completes, a message will prompt you to restart the device. Select OK and the device will restart.

Installation of the SPNT_TreoProRingerUpdate.CAB is complete.

Via Over the Air Install

For proper installation, please follow these instructions:

  1. When you click on the download link (below), installation will begin. But first, read these instructions and make sure you understand them.
  2. Ensure that the Sprint Treo Pro is plugged into a power source.
  3. Click download button below and installation will begin.
  4. When the download window appears: Ensure that the checkbox "Open file after download" is selected.
  5. Tap on Yes.

After the installer finishes, it will prompt you to reset your device. Select OK to reset your smart phone and complete the installation.

Removal of the TreoProRingerUpdate

In order to remove the SPNT_TreoProRingerUpdate, you will need to hard reset your device.
