I'm having trouble installing an app from HP App Catalog

There are several sources of applications for your HP webOS device:

HP App Catalog. App Catalog is located in the Launcher on webOS devices. Applications that have been reviewed by HP and meet specific development standards are included in App Catalog searches. They appear with a gray background (on smartphones).

Web distribution. Web-distributed apps are usually delivered to the device via links and are downloaded and installed using App Catalog on the device. Because web distributed apps have not been reviewed by HP, they are not included in App Catalog searches. They appear with a blue background (on smartphones).

Beta apps. Beta apps are prerelease versions of applications that are in the final stages of development. Beta apps are usually delivered to the device via links and are downloaded and installed using App Catalog on the device. The app details page for a beta app displays a banner that says BETA APP. Beta apps are not included in App Catalog searches. They appear with an orange background (on smartphones).

Homebrew or preware. Homebrew or preware applications are applications that are developed outside HP’s developer network. HP cannot assist with finding, purchasing, downloading, installing, updating, or removing these applications. See Using applications from sources other than App Catalog for more information about homebrew apps.

If you received one of the following errors, the app is not compatible with your device.

  • This application is not available for your model.
  • This application is not available for your carrier.
  • This application is not available in your country.
  • This application cannot run on your current operating system. Use the Updates app to install the system update and try again.
  • This is not a valid webOS application.

Try these steps if you can’t install an application that was downloaded through App Catalog. Stop when the problem is solved.

  1. If you received an error message, follow the prompts to reinstall the app.
  2. Delete the application. See “Deleting applications” in Using App Catalog or Using App Catalog on an HP TouchPad .

Tip If you delete an app purchased from App Catalog, you don’t have to purchase the application again. Purchased applications are associated with your HP webOS Account.

  3. Restart your device, and then try the download and installation process again:
    1. Open Device Info .
    2. Tap Reset Options.
    3. Tap Restart.
    4. After the device restarts, find the app in App Catalog or tap the link for the app (if this is a beta app or web-distributed app) and attempt the installation again.

Note HP supports finding, purchasing, downloading, installing, updating, and deleting App Catalog applications. The developer cannot assist with any of these functions (see What functions of App Catalog does HP support? ).
