Charging the battery
Warning Use only batteries and chargers that are approved by your
wireless service provider or Palm with your phone. Failure to use
an approved battery or charger may increase the risk of your phone
overheating, catching fire, or exploding, which may result in serious
bodily injury, death, or property damage. Failure to use an approved
battery or charger may also prevent your phone from turning on or
charging and may void your phone warranty.
Note The Palm Centro™ Standard battery is designed solely for
use with the Centro phone and is not compatible with webOS phones, even though it may appear to fit into the battery compartment.
The customer must use Palm batteries only in the devices for which
they were specifically designed.
The following illustration shows Palm batteries that are approved
for use in webOS phones and not approved for webOS phones. The battery
with the check above it is approved, and the battery with x above
it is not approved.
The battery may come with a charge sufficient to complete
the setup process. However, we recommend that after setup you charge
your phone until the battery
icon
is full to ensure that the battery is fully charged.
-
Open the cover on the charger/microUSB connector on
the side of your phone.
Note If your phone has a sliding keyboard, this is easier to do
if you slide the keyboard out first.
-
Connect the small end of the USB cable to
the charger/microUSB connector.
-
Connect the other end of the USB cable to
the AC charger.
-
Plug the AC charger into a working
outlet.
Tip You can also charge your phone battery by connecting your
phone to your computer using the USB cable. Charging this way takes
much more time than using the AC charger. Do not, however, connect
the HP Touchstone charging
dock (sold separately) to your computer.
When the battery is very low, the battery
icon
in the upper-right corner of the screen changes to red. When the
battery is fully charged, the icon appears full.
Charge your phone whenever you can. Charge it overnight. The
battery has a much longer useful life when it is topped off frequently
than when it is charged after it is fully drained.
