This article lists new applications and feature changes in software updates for the Palm Pre Plus phone for SFR.

webOS 2.1.0
This article lists new applications and feature changes in
system update 2.1.0 for the HP webOS operating system.
Note System update 2.1.0 applies to Pre+ and Pre 2 smartphones
only. It does not apply to Pixi+ smartphones. If you have an SFR
Pre 2 smartphone, see palm.com/webos-pre2-sfr for
the release notes for your smartphone.
Note System update 2.1.0 is not available as an automatic update
to your Pre+ smartphone. You must use webOS Doctor to manually install
system update 2.1.0. See palm.com/preplus-webos for
instructions.

New applications
Accounts
Application icon:

You can use the Accounts application as a central location
to set up and manage online accounts.
-
You can select from a list of popular online accounts.
-
In Accounts, tap Find More to view
and download additional accounts in App Catalog that sync contact,
calendar, email, or messaging data.
-
Use the Accounts application to turn sync on or off for each
application associated with an account. For example, for your Google
or Exchange account, you can individually turn contact, calendar,
email, or messaging sync on or off.
Exhibition
Application icon:

Exhibition gives you access to special applications
that optimize use of the smartphone while it is placed on an HP
Touchstone charging dock. The apps include Time (clock app), Photos
(photo slideshow), and Agenda (agenda view).

Exhibition turns on automatically when you place your smartphone
on a Touchstone charging dock. When the smartphone is not on a charging
dock, you can manually turn on Exhibition from the Launcher.
Gesture Tutorial

The gesture tutorial provides an interactive, hands-on
guide to help you learn common webOS gestures including tap, back,
and up. You can now access the tutorial at any time from the Launcher.
Quickoffice mobile office software
Application icon:

With Quickoffice mobile
office software, you can view Microsoft Word, Excel,
and PowerPoint files that you
copy from a computer or receive as an email attachment on your smartphone. You
can also enter account settings for an online collaborative tool such
as Google Docs or Dropbox and view files from that account in the
Quickoffice app.
SIM Toolkit
Application icon:

The new SIM Toolkit application gives you access to
services from your wireless service provider such as account information,
payment, and news.
Note If the SIM Toolkit application icon does not appear in the
Launcher, your wireless service provider does not support this app.
Software Manager
Application icon:

The Software Manager application provides a central
location where you can update and delete any apps that you downloaded
from App Catalog. Software Manager replaces the My Apps feature
that existed in earlier versions of App Catalog.

For downloaded applications that support the notification
feature, if an app update is available, you receive a notification
of the update.
Text Assist
Application icon:

The Text Assist feature offers automatic spelling correction,
expansion of shorthand forms (r becomes are),
auto-capitalization, and a dictionary that you can edit. Use the Text
Assist app to customize any Text Assist feature.
Voice Dial

You can dial contacts using your voice by launching
the Voice Dial application. Voice dialing can also be initiated
by pressing and holding the volume button
at any time, or by tapping and holding
on the Phone dial
pad.?
VPN
Application icon:

Support for IPsec versions of VPN or Cisco AnyConnect
VPN is now available directly through the VPN application.

You can access the VPN app either from the Launcher or from
the connection menu.
Feature changes to existing applications
App Catalog
-
In this release, App Catalog features a redesigned
user interface.
-
Improved search functionality allows you to search by featured
apps, top paid apps, top free apps, and new apps. You can also browse
and search within categories and subcategories.
-
The My Apps screen in App Catalog, which listed all your downloaded
apps and enabled you to update and delete apps, has been replaced
by the separate Software Manager application.
-
For downloaded applications that support the notification
feature, if an app update is available, you receive a notification
of the update.
Backup
-
Information backed up to your Palm profile now includes
call history entries, text messages, and instant messages. Note
that multimedia messages are not backed up.
Bluetooth
-
This release offers support for Bluetooth keyboards.
Calendar
-
This release includes Calendar fixes that were introduced
in system release 2.0.
Clock
-
The Clock app features two new preferences: You can
set whether alarms should play with ascending volume, and can set
the snooze interval for alarms.
-
When an alarm goes off, the screen now stays on until you
perform some action on the alarm.
Contacts
-
You can designate any contact as a favorite by tapping
on the contact entry
screen. View your favorites by opening Contacts and tapping Favorites,
or by opening Phone and tapping .

Any contacts you designate as favorites appear at the top
of the contacts section of the Just Type search results screen.

If you synchronize Google contacts that contain birthday information,
the birthday info now appears in Contacts on the smartphone.
Email
-
You can set a preference to see a confirmation notification
when you delete a message. If the preference is turned on, the notification
appears when you throw a message off the side of the screen, asking
you to confirm the deletion.

You can use the Mark All Read menu
item to mark all messages in a folder as read.
-
When you begin typing a contact name or email address to address
a message, favorites appear at the top of the address match list.

Just Type
-
Just Type expands upon the universal search feature
in earlier versions of webOS software. It is made more visible through
a field with the text “Just type...” at the top of Card view.
-
Using Just Type, you can enter a search term in Card view
or the Launcher and then search the web, email, web browser history
and bookmarks, App Catalog, and YouTube.
-
From Just Type, you can start a Quick Action such as writing
a new email or text message; creating a memo, calendar appointment,
or task; or updating your Facebook status.
-
When you type a search term, the search results screen includes
a Suggest box. Tap Suggest to
view a list of web search terms that closely match the characters that you typed.
You can start a web search by tapping one of the suggestions.
-
You can customize Just Type by entering a search term, scrolling
to the bottom of the screen, and tapping Preferences.
Options include which search engine to use as the default, which
apps to search, and the Quick Actions you can perform.
-
If you open a web page and an additional search engine is
available, a notification appears alerting you that you can add
the search engine. If you add the search engine, it appears as an
option in Just Type.

Any contacts that you designate as favorites appear at the
top of the contacts search results section of the Just Type search
results screen.
Location Services
-
Location Services now allows you to choose whether
or not to pass location information to websites that request it.
Messaging
-
You can add instant messaging (IM) buddies directly
from your smartphone by sending a buddy request. You can also receive
and reply to buddy requests and can delete buddies from your buddies
list.

Yahoo! Messenger is now available as an IM account for all
carriers.
-
When you begin typing a contact name to address a message,
favorites appear at the top of the address match list. See also
Contacts, Email, and Phone.

You can receive multimedia messages while roaming, even if
the Data Roaming preference is set to off.
Phone
-
The Phone app Phone app features a visual voicemail
screen. Visual voicemail displays your voicemail messages as a list
so you can see who called and select the messages that you want
to listen to. You can also make calls and send text messages to
callers directly from the visual voicemail list.

The Phone app features a Favorites screen, from which you
can add, remove, or call a favorite. View your favorites by opening
Phone and tapping
,
or opening Contacts and tapping Favorites.

If you type a contact name to dial, favorites appear at the
top of the contact matches. See also Contacts, Email, and Messaging.
System
-
In Card view, related cards now appear in stacks. You
can manually stack and unstack cards by tapping and dragging.
-
The Launcher now displays icons for all applications, including
apps in Quick Launch.
-
You can add any number of new Launcher pages, and can delete
any Launcher page.
-
Launcher pages now have names. You can rename any Launcher
page by tapping and holding the current name.
-
You can change the order of Launcher pages to customize organization
of your apps.
Tasks
-
Within a task list, you can search for individual tasks
by typing the task name.
Web
-
If you open a web page and an additional search engine
is available, a notification appears alerting you that you can add
the search engine. If you add the search engine, it appears as an
option in Just Type.
Wi-Fi
-
Out of the box, the Wi-Fi feature is turned on by default.

A Captive Portal Detected notification
appears if you try to connect to a Wi-Fi access point that requires
you to go to a special Internet page (called a captive portal) before
connecting to the Internet. On the captive portal, you might need
to enter a username and password or pay for the Internet session.
Until you successfully connect to the access point through the captive
portal, the smartphone continues to use a wireless service provider
data connection to connect to the Internet.
Security
This release addresses a number of security issues with HP
webOS software.

System
- This release includes minor fixes and enhancements to support the public release of the webOS PDK.
Web
- If a user enters text in a field on certain websites, the screen focus now remains on the text being entered.
- This release fixes a rare problem so that podcasts now download correctly.

This release addresses several security issues with the HP webOS software.
