Using HP App Catalog
Use HP App Catalog to browse and download any of the many applications available for your device. Some apps are free, and others must be purchased. You can access App Catalog only on your HP webOS device, not from the HP website and not from the web browser on your computer.
After apps are installed on your device, you can manage them with Software Manager. You can review an app, report a problem, update it, or delete it (see Managing and updating apps with Software Manager ).
App Catalog displays only the apps available for your device. HP approves apps, but application developers determine the audience for their apps based on the webOS version, the model of the device, and the country in which the app is distributed. This is why different devices have different apps in App Catalog (see Using HP App Catalog in specific countries ). For devices enabled with a wireless service provider data plan, apps are generally distributed to all wireless service providers in a country, except in rare cases where HP allows an exception; for example, for a provider partner who developed an app specifically for that provider. Developers provide support for issues related to app functionality. HP supports finding, purchasing, downloading, installing, updating, and deleting App Catalog applications. The application developer cannot help you with these functions.

TouchPad app compatibility
HP offers a wide range of webOS devices. Due to differences such as screen size and webOS version, not all apps are compatible across all devices. An app that was downloaded for one HP webOS device may not be available for another.
In App Catalog, apps made specifically for the TouchPad appear first and say “For TouchPad” above the price. TouchPad apps will not work on webOS smartphones.
A search may produce two apps by the same name if there is both a TouchPad and smartphone version of the app. Many apps developed for webOS smartphones have been adapted to work on the TouchPad, either by being scaled up to fill the TouchPad screen (therefore with less resolution than the smartphone version), or by running in a smartphone-size window with a software keyboard and onscreen gesture area to simulate the app’s smartphone webOS environment. See Using gestures on a Palm Pre Plus for information about using gestures on a smartphone.
If you restore an HP webOS Account used on a smartphone to a TouchPad, apps that been adapted for the TouchPad will be installed. Those that have not won’t be.
Troubleshooting
Trouble purchasing an application?
If you have trouble purchasing an app, see the procedure and FAQ at Trouble purchasing an application .
Can’t find an app
If you can’t find an application using App Catalog, the app may be available from another source. There are three distribution channels supported by HP for webOS apps: App Catalog, web-distributed, and beta apps. Web-distributed apps are delivered to the device as links and installed using App Catalog. Beta apps are prerelease versions of apps, also distributed via links from websites. Homebrew or preware apps are developed outside HP’s developer network and are not supported by HP in any way.
If you have trouble finding an app, see I can’t find the app I want to download .
Problems downloading apps
If you cannot download an app or find a downloaded app, received a “Can’t Install” message indicating insufficient space, or received a message indicating the app is not compatible with your device, go to HP App Catalog download issue .
Problems installing apps
If you received one of these two error messages: “Couldn't install” or “Install failed,” go to HP App Catalog installation issue .
Using applications not from App Catalog
HP does not assist with the finding, purchasing, downloading, installing, or removing of applications that are not from App Catalog. For information about apps that have not been tested and certified by HP, see Using third-party applications from sources other than HP App Catalog .
