Decompress the downloaded file to a temporary folder, using one of these decompression utilities: WinZip, StuffIt, PKZIP, or Windows default.
Perform a
soft reset on your smartphone.
The Today screen should be visible before you proceed.
Connect your device to the PC via the sync cable and allow ActiveSync to complete synchronization.
Follow the on-screen instructions on the PC to update your device.
Warning: Do not unplug the AC adapter from your smartphone or try to stop the update while it is in progress. If you stop the update partway through, your smartphone will be inoperable until you complete the update.
Do not pick up or move your smartphone during the update .
ActiveSync will shut down on your desktop PC. It will restart a short time later during the update process.
During the update process your screen may look like this for several minutes. The display on the phone may change several times during the update process. However, while the update is running, your smartphone will be inactive. You will see the status on your PC, along with the elapsed time of the update. The process takes about
20 minutes.
First, your screen will display the Treo logo for several minutes.
Next, a blue progress bar will appear. It will advance as the update is installed.
During the installation, your device will reset while displaying a screen titled
Important on your desktop. Allow your device to fully reboot before pressing the
Continue button.
During this process, do not disconnect the Sync cable at any time. The cable should stay connected throughout the update.
Once the process is finished, you will see an "Update Complete" screen on your desktop PC.
Click the Finish button.
Disconnect the Treo smartphone from the sync cable. Perform a soft reset on the device.
Verify the software version string on the device is

. Select Settings.
- Select the System tab. Open About. Go to the Phone tab.
- Look at the Software Version. You should see;
