Running applications or browsing the Internet on the desktop PC during the update is not advised. Ensure that ActiveSync is not currently synchronizing or running in the background prior to executing the Treo update. These activities may interfere with the updater process.

  • Have ActiveSync 4.5 or higher (WMDC for Vista users) installed on your desktop PC.

  • Turn off anti-virus software, screen savers and power saving on your desktop PC.
  • If using a laptop, ensure it has power for at least 60-90 minutes and is not configured to enter a standby or hibernation mode.
  • Disable the ActiveSync option to "sync items as they arrive" if you are using it; instead, set your device to synchronize on a schedule or not at all during the update.
