If you have a Treo Pro phone on the Alltel network, you should install this update.

1. Press Start , Select Settings.
2. Select the System tab. Open About. Go to the Phone tab.
3. Look at the Software Version.
   
   T850EWW-1.03-ALT: Yes, install this update. Anything else: No, do not install this update.

Note: If you do not have a Alltel-branded Treo Pro phone, do not install this update.

You can download this update directly to your phone through its wireless Internet connection.

1. Press Start. Select Internet Explorer.
2. Enter this address: palm.com/treoprodatestampupdatealltel
3. When the download window appears, select Save.
4. Choose the location where you would like to download the file.
5. When the download is complete, press Option + Start to open File Explorer.
6. Navigate to the location where you downloaded the file Alltel_TreoProSMS_date.cab.
7. Tap the file to launch the update.
8. When installation is complete, select OK to reset your phone and complete the installation.

If you prefer, you can download this update to your Windows PC and install it on your phone through the USB ActiveSync cable.

1. Assure that your device has at least a 50% charge.
2. Download the Treo Pro Date Stamp Update (Alltel_TreoProSMS_date.cab, above) and save it to your desktop.
3. Connect your phone to the ActiveSync cable and allow it to complete an ActiveSync operation.
4. On your PC, open My Computer and then open Mobile Device.
5. Open My Windows Mobile-Based Device.
6. Open Program Files.
7. Drag the Alltel_TreoProSMS_date.cab file from your desktop to the open Program Files folder. This will copy the update to your phone.
8. Disconnect your phone from the ActiveSync cable.
9. On your phone, press Option + Start to open File Explorer.
10. In the upper left show list, select My Device.
11. Open Program Files. Select the Alltel_TreoProSMS_date.cab file.
12. When you see an alert about file conversion, select OK.

If you need to remove the Treo Pro Date Stamp Update, perform a hard reset.
